nucA

nucA is a non-specific DNA/RNA endonuclease [1] originally identified in Anabeaena sp. PCC 7120 [1,2]. The par was used as a part of the kill switch for the Lethbridge iGEM team 2019. The part is repressed by the nuiA gene (BBa_ BBa_K3237025) when this gene is expressed under the PcopM72 inducible promoter (BBa_ BBa_K3237027). Once the inducer is not present (when perhaps released into the environment) the nuiA gene will stop its expression and the nucA will be expressed, killing the cell.
